Is Rihanna being sued by David LaChapelle over her S&M Video? It seems the famous photographer is taking legal actions against the Barbadian singer over her recent video S&M. Keep reading to find out more about this news and see the video.
According to a recent report from Reuters, Rihanna has been sued by David LaChapelle over the images in her recent video S&M. The renowned photographer claims the Barbadian singer used some of his images for the video. Yeap, you read right, Rihanna allegedly copied eight of his photos in the video. In the papers of the lawsuit the snapper claims the recent video is practically an imitation of his work.
“In the suit, according to Reuters, LaChapelle says that “the music video is directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works.” He is asking for unspecified damages. The suit was filed Feb. 14 in New York City.”
So, there are eight scenes in the video. The first one: The singer in pink latex outfit in profile with a candy in her tongue, second: when she appears walking a famous blogger like a dog. Also there a fight over the scenes where Rihanna is wearing the bunny ears in a room with tabloid headlines projected on the walls. And where she is wearing the huge red afro wig. The snapper claims Rihanna’s recent video took almost everything from his work including the feel, theme, tone, concept, colors and mood. Well, if you see the video and his work you will see what he is talking about.
“LaChapelle claims that Rihanna’s video copied the ‘composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting’ of his work.”

I never know what to believe in the media anymore, however seeing this video within the first 10-20 seconds I had to comment, being a photographer student and lover of David LaChapelle’s work YES there are similarities with the Haven to Hell (LaChapelle) book I own and Rihanna’s video. And if MY work was anywhere near as amazing as his than yes I would be FURIOUS if ANYONE would try and take the style, colours and composition I did.
It IS very similar.
