These days, parents feel that even the toys that are intended for kids are questionable. I’ve heard complaints over the Bratz dolls being too suggestive, Barbie being too scantily clad, heck there was even a story about a poll-dancing doll a few months back.

I’m sure the complaints will come rolling in with this new version of Ken. Any fool knows that ‘Sugar Daddy’ is a term that refers to a man who is probably not in a committed relationship with a woman—but they are still mutually beneficial to each other. One hands out the cash, the other.. well..

So what could the makers of this new doll be thinking? Well, first off, they claim it is more of a novelty for adults. Right, because I know tons of adults who collect Barbies. Second off, they claim that Ken’s dog is named Sugar, and that there is no intended innuendo.

Here’s what spokeswoman Michelle Chidoni had to say:

“At the end of the day, this collection is targeting towards adults. While the name of the doll does refer back to the dog, I think people are going to interpret it as they want to interpret it.”

C’mon, you mean to tell me that no one involved in the development and marketing of this thing took a second to think “Gee, that name is a little suggestive, isn’t it?”

This is just what we needed for kids. We’ve already got Miley Cyrus’ little sister dressing like a showgirl for Halloween, now we’re going to add the term ‘Sugar Daddy’ to their vernacular?
