Jorja Fox of CSI fame is jumping on the dog pile in an effort to end these cruel and disgusting underground ‘events.’

Jorja Fox

If I were rich, I would become a sort of rogue animal cop—no lie. I’d outfit an RV with the most high-tech instruments and equipment available, and become a covert animal abuse investigator.

Though I can’t do as much as I would like, I sleep better at night knowing that there are good people out there who have the time and resources to make a difference.

CSI’s Jorja Fox is one of them.

PeoplePets reports that the actress is working closely with the Humane Society in their ‘End Dogfighting’ campaign. The program is centered upon educating communities and working toward building healthy, happy relationships between people and at risk dogs.

Being a real dog lover, Fox wanted in as soon as she heard about the effort:

“When I heard about this project last spring, I called the Humane Society and said if they wanted help, to call on me. It’s a brilliant program.”

She adopted a 13 year old boxer Ali from a rescue program at just 10 months old, and doesn’t shy away from calling her ‘my best friend.’

Jorja rightfully points out that Pit Bulls earned a bad name not from their natural behaviors, but from those that have been conditioned into them. The program takes aim at teaching kids how to raise them properly:

“Pit bulls are smart and healthy — they can do so much…So the organization works to get kids showing that off, and getting excited about that, instead of falling into the dark side.”

This story reminds me of how gentle and loving Cesar Milan’s pit bull was. Before passing away last week, he was a true example of how they can live like any other dog if trained properly.

As I write this I’m glancing over at the display case in my office where I keep an old collar my ‘best friend’ wore up until he passed away a few years ago. I learned more about life from him than any human could have taught me. Rest in peace Link, you big goof ball.

You go Jorja Fox!

    Shoemaker Says:

I perform with these dogs and as far as animal behavior goes, I am a solid believer in nurture and training. I’ve met Jack Russell Terriers that I wouldn’t go near once again, but have never had a poor experience with an American Staffordshire Terrier. If you’re speaking about their owners- well, which is a different story. Humans are creatures as well, and we have a tendency to every have our own tips about “moral concepts”.
