Jorja Fox of CSI fame is jumping on the dog pile in an effort to end these cruel and disgusting underground âevents.â
If I were rich, I would become a sort of rogue animal copâno lie. Iâd outfit an RV with the most high-tech instruments and equipment available, and become a covert animal abuse investigator.
Though I canât do as much as I would like, I sleep better at night knowing that there are good people out there who have the time and resources to make a difference.
CSIâs Jorja Fox is one of them.
PeoplePets reports that the actress is working closely with the Humane Society in their âEnd Dogfightingâ campaign. The program is centered upon educating communities and working toward building healthy, happy relationships between people and at risk dogs.
Being a real dog lover, Fox wanted in as soon as she heard about the effort:
âWhen I heard about this project last spring, I called the Humane Society and said if they wanted help, to call on me. It’s a brilliant program.â
She adopted a 13 year old boxer Ali from a rescue program at just 10 months old, and doesnât shy away from calling her âmy best friend.â
Jorja rightfully points out that Pit Bulls earned a bad name not from their natural behaviors, but from those that have been conditioned into them. The program takes aim at teaching kids how to raise them properly:
âPit bulls are smart and healthy â they can do so muchâŚSo the organization works to get kids showing that off, and getting excited about that, instead of falling into the dark side.â
This story reminds me of how gentle and loving Cesar Milanâs pit bull was. Before passing away last week, he was a true example of how they can live like any other dog if trained properly.
As I write this Iâm glancing over at the display case in my office where I keep an old collar my âbest friendâ wore up until he passed away a few years ago. I learned more about life from him than any human could have taught me. Rest in peace Link, you big goof ball.
You go Jorja Fox!
